Tips For A Successful Event
At some point, many businesses will
decide to attend a show or event as an exhibitor.
This can be an expensive process. Not only is the cost of the stand but design and printing costs, your
own and staff costs, preparation and travel time, etc.
Here are a few tips to create a
successful event.
Pick your event. Who else is
exhibiting and is it aimed at your target market?
How many exhibitors are there and
what is the expected footfall - number of visitors?
What is your main
objective? This
is key. Are you aiming for new clients, sell products, raise awareness, get contact details ... ?
What will you need for the event - the type of materials and design of your
stand?
Have plenty of materials available -
you don't want to run out. At the least, something to capture contact details.
Create a Special Offer that only attendees on the day can get.
On the Day
Keep the stand clear and
uncluttered - less is most definitely more.
Get rid of the chairs behind your
stand. [I've seen people reading or on their laptops - how off-putting is that!]
Stand up. Get onto the same eye-level as
the people passing by.
Smile! Make eye
contact and say hello - they're more likely to stop.
Have testers
or samples available and a special show offer to entice visitors to try and buy.
If you don't have something to sell, give something away in exchange for their contact details.
Have a prize draw as a reason to gather visitors' details. People are often tempted by a free prize draw
or bowl of sweets.
Engage with your visitor. If someone takes the time to stop at your
stand and shows an interest - start a conversation.
After the Event
Follow-up! This is part of the planning process and
something you need to make time for after the event.
I'm always surprised at how few
people follow-up after an event.
Follow-up within a day or two of
the event. Send the requested information,
a thank-you email, a free report, outline your services, add them to your newsletter
(if they signed up for it).
Follow-up with a phone call if that's
the next step.
Don't forget - the initial contact is
just the beginning.
Why not book up a FREE Friday Focus session - clear your blocks, get focused and get into action - www.clareevans.co.uk.
Until next month.
