For the last two days we've looked at the previous year and how your life looks overall.
Now it’s time to start focusing on the coming year and think about what you want to achieve.
You may already be thinking about a few New Year Resolutions for
the year ahead. Are they the most common ones ... get fit, lose weight, give up smoking/drinking ... is it something different?
The clearer you are about what it is you actually want, the more likely you are to achieve it.
From the review of your year and the life balance exercise, in twelve months what do you want to have achieved?
Look at all the different aspects of your life - money (income),
lifestyle (freedom), community (the contribution/impact you make).
Be clear and specific, make your goals S.M.A.R.T.A:
- Specific - what and why? Include the detail, motivation and purpose.
- Measurable - how much, how many? How will I know I've achieved it?
- Achievable - can I accomplish it, how realistic is it? Is it challenging enough?
- Relevant - how important is this to me? Is it the right
time?
- Timebound - when will I achieve it?
- Accountable - how will I make sure I achieve it? Who will keep me on track?
Do your goals excite, motivate and energise you? What’s your emotional response when you think about your goal and where you will be in twelve months time? How committed are you to achieving what you want in 2018?
Only 8% of people manage to keep their New Year Resolutions. Join me on January 4th at 8pm and
