Hello
,
As one year ends and another begins - promise yourself that in 2021, you’ll take more breaks.
I know many of us will have had 'enforced breaks' with the impact of coronavirus and lockdowns this year. Hopefully you’re now looking forward to the New Year - relaxed, de-stressed(?) and ready to go.
In order to have a productive and successful year, breaks are important. While the reality of a Summer holiday may still be a long way off, make sure you also plan in ‘days off’ - a break in the week, long weekends and weekends away.
Give yourself a proper break from work with time to recharge your batteries at regular intervals, not just once or twice a year.
I'm sure you want to work more efficiently so you can get more done in your busy day but you also want more time off.
Even when you feel you're constantly too busy or it doesn’t seem possible.
- You think skipping lunch or working late is going to give you more time.
- You’re too busy to take a break - there’s too much to be done.
The longer you carry on working without a break, the more mentally tired you become and the more your productivity, concentration and focus drops.
When you take a break or do something different, that's often the time your sub-conscious pops up with a solution to a problem or a great new idea … you know those little Eureka moments.
So go on, start this year by planning and committing to more breaks, more often.
