Before you get stuck into the turkey and mince pies, here are a few things to tick off in that quiet(er) time between Christmas and New Year or if you need a break from all the festivities.
Â
It's time for a final review of the last 12
months.
Â
Review and Reflect
If business and personal planning isn’t something you do regularly, set aside some time to sit down with pen and paper, your journal, laptop, whatever works for
you and do the following:
Â
Review your work, personal and financial goals for the current year.
- What worked, what didn’t
- How much of your goals/objectives were you able to achieve? Were they too high, too low or about right?
Review all of your achievements and the progress you’ve made over the last 12 months to remind you of how far you've come.
Â
Prepare For The Coming Year
Complete a little admin for this year and prepare for the coming year if you didn't manage this earlier in the month.
- Catch up on
your accounts and book-keeping.
- Complete any outstanding year-end finance and reporting.
- Review your financials to see where any changes need to be made for 2025.
- Finalise things for the year, tie up any loose ends, finish any outstanding tasks
etc.
Organise and back-up and reset:
- Clear out your Inbox, especially anything older than 6 months that might still be lurking.
- Set up repeating appointments, meetings, time blocks, if they don’t
already carry over each year.
- Organise data files - use year folders to move older data out of your main folders or storage area.
- Review your software subscriptions and apps. Do you still need/use them.
- Put away, archive old files. Get rid of the oldest set of files, as you go - Â paper and digital.
- Order your wall planner, journal, diary for the coming year.
Â
Plan Ahead
Along with the admin and house-keeping tasks, create and plan your goals for the coming year.
Â
Take what you’ve learned to plan ahead for next year.
- What will you do more of?
- What do you want to do less of?
Â
Set aside time on a regular basis throughout the coming year to review your plans and allow for that all important, strategic thinking time.
Â
And to help you get a head start on 2025 ...
