How often do you pause at the end of your day to check-in with how you're managing your time?
While weekly and monthly reviews (like the 90-Day check-in) are valuable, a daily review often gets overlooked, especially when you're busy. After a busy day, all you want to do is shut down your computer, close the office door and walk away.
However, even when you're head down, getting through your to-do list, taking a few minutes to pause and review each day can make a real difference.
It can shift your focus from what you haven't got done to what you did achieve. It can
help you spot what needs adjusting before it becomes a problem.
Build a Review Habit
A daily review is such a simple but
powerful productivity habit. It gives you a chance to close off the day and reflect with intention and clarity. The more you practice it, the more it will help you to feel in control and able to make more informed decisions about how you're using your time.
Here are three ways to make a daily review part of
your routine:
Set Flexible Goals:
Having clear daily or weekly goals will help to guide your focus for the week. Remember your goals are not set in stone. They can be flexible and
it's ok to adjust them as you go.
A review helps you to be more realistic about what's possible and adapt as things change. Whether that's work or personal circumstances. Being flexible allows you to make adjustments as needed, ensuring you stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.
Try Daily Journaling:
Spend five minutes at the end of each day jotting down what you've achieved, any challenges that have come up, and how you felt - tired, stressed, frustrated, excited ...
it's all useful information.
Writing things down helps you to organise your thoughts and also allows you to notice patterns, track your progress and keep a sense of perspective.
Add it to your existing planner, use a separate journal or notebook. It doesn't have to be fancy, just make it easy to do.
Schedule Weekly Reviews:
At the end of each week, take a few minutes to step back and ask yourself:
- What went well?
- What needs tweaking?
- What do I need to change/do differently next week?
A regular review allows you to celebrate your achievements and helps identify areas for learning and growth.
By building a review habit, you'll be better equipped to stay focused, feel less
overwhelmed and keep moving forward, at your own pace but with purpose and intention.
